4 Principles for Mission Senders

I recently shared four principles for missions senders on my blog.  These principles are taken from Ezra chapter 1.  In the chapter, God worked to send people back to rebuild the temple at Jerusaelm.  Some were stirred up to go, but others who remained helped those who went.

It reminded me of Andrew Fuller and other pastors in England who put together the Baptist Missionary Society when William Carey went to India as a missionary.  These men and churches “held the ropes” for Carey.

Without those who send and those who hold the ropes, the work of world missions would come to a grinding halt.  If you are willing to go but God has not stirred your heart to go, then you have a responsibility to help those who have been stirred up by God to go.

Romans 10:13-15 shows us that the starting point for getting the gospel to the lost is senders. “13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent?”

Without missions senders, preachers could not go.  Without preachers, the lost will not hear, believe, or call upon the name of the Lord for salvation.  It all begins with senders.
